Autoire en Quercy

We just got back from a quick trip down south in the Périgord and Quercy regions of France. We drove about four hours through Châteauroux, Limoges, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Souillac, and Sarlat to get to the gîte we had rented in the village of Vézac, on the Dordogne river. We were there for four nights. We went to the Saturday market in Sarlat, saw the châteaux and towns along the Dordogne, and went into the old Quercy province to see Rocamadour and the Gouffre de Padirac. The weather was beautiful for the whole trip.

Here are some pictures of the village of Autoire, population 250 or so, in the northern part of Quercy. The guidebooks say it is one of the best-preserved and most typical villages in the region. I had never heard of it before we went there, so it ranks as a discovery.
